The non-profit association “« Association pour l’Economie de Communion “, “AECOM asbl” in acronym, is an institution of the “Work of Mary” – Focolare Movement (OMMF asbl), created in 1991.
Our goal
Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement, understood that if God’s love penetrated all areas of life, a social revolution could take place. She identified 7 areas.
VISION
AECOM aims to create works in all areas of life to increase universal brotherhood in the world in general and in the DRC in particular.
MISSION
The mission of AECOM is to coordinate, accompany and network all the realizations of the Focolare Movement in the DR Congo.

Education as a basis for all development is a fundamental pillar of AECOM in several cities in the Congo. An education that starts with the youngest. It is with this passion that the Petites Flammes schools were born. At the beginning in 1996 with a small group of about twenty children and today the Petites Flammes schools are 12 with primary, nursery and recovery.
Realization :
Health
The guarantee of health is a basic need of every human being. With the hospitals coordinated by AECOM, they provide appropriate care to the various patients with modern equipment.
Economy
The network of entrepreneurs of the economy of communion is encouraged and accompanied by AECOM. These businessmen, imbued with the values of unity and sharing, help the poor with their profits and support the initiatives for the promotion of universal brotherhood, see also: l’économy of communion internationnal
The operations of the economy are carried out in every small act of sale or in the effort to save its small benefits for the future. AECOM supports savings groups, but also gives training in all financial matters.

Leadership :
Good governance starts with good leadership to improve the future of the DR Congo. The AECOM platform has been further enriched by another work: the higher training school for unity leaders.
Promotion of Women
The promotion of women is a cross-cutting theme in all AECOM’s realizations, so in 2019 the CoGen (gender communion) branch was created
